Mugendai Mewtype or "Yumemita" for short is the BanG Dream! franchise's vtuber project. They're the 10th unit to join the band lineup and the 7th live performing band.The band consists of Nakamachi Arale as vocalist, Miyanaga Nonoka and Minetsuki Ritsu on guitars, Fuji Miyako on keyboard, and Sengoku Yuno as DJ and Mp. (manipulator).Outside of normal band activities they all conduct vtuber activities individually and as a group.

Band Overview

Mugendai Mewtype was initially announced on July 22, 2022 as a project with the premise of "BanG Dream! But it's okay if you can't play!". Auditions for the characters were also announced on the same day.The band officially debuted in November, 2023 with Miyako debuting on the 18th and the rest of the members debuting on the 19th respectively. Yuno's debut was supposed to happen on the 18th as well but due to technical difficulties she had to postpone her stream to the next day. After the individual streams they held a group broadcast on the band's main channel, where they announced the release of their debut song and debut merchandise. Their debut song Mugen My World released on the 20th.Their character designs were done by main designer and art director for the BanG Dream! Project, Nobusawa Osamu also known by the online handle canvas2929.

Music

Yumemita's broad genre is electronic J-pop/Dance-Pop. They have implemented electronic genres such as Denpa, Electro Swing and DnB in their songs.Independent musician group PHYZ is responsible for writing and composing the songs but according to an interview the girls are uniquely heavily involved in the process compared to most other bands in the franchise.Yumemita is currently the only band in the franchise to not have a bassist or drummer.

Band Story

They currently do not have a canon storyline that fits into the BanG Dream! Project universe.Yumemita's thematic concept is a girls band made up of social outcasts navigating the world during their turbulent youth.Miyako has adapted each of their original songs into one-shot manga publications. These adaptations are self admittedly her own abstract interpretations of the lyrics and she tries her best to make them as vague as possible regarding where they might fit into the BanG Dream! universe.

Nakamachi Arale is the vocalist and leader of the virtual band Mugendai Mewtype.Her debut stream was held at 21:00 JST on November 19, 2023. Her YouTube channel qualified for monetization on December 1, 2023. She reached the 10,000 subscriber milestone on March 26, 2024 and she opened channel memberships on March 29.Nakamachi (仲町): Naka (仲) means "close" and Machi (町) means "town". It is also a reference to Otsuka Nakamachi neighborhood in Tokyo Bunkyo ward, following franchise tradition.
Arale (あられ): depending on the kanji used, can mean "hail", "dicing; small cubes" or even "roasted mochi pieces".Arale is a very energetic person. There is also an anxious and self deprecating side to her nature. This was shown well when she needed to take a break from streaming due to an upper respiratory infection. Her all-time favorite anime are Zero no Tsukaima, Fairy Tail and Angel Beats. In addition to her otaku interests, Arale loves singing and talking about it. She has a very strong attachment and dedication to singing and has been described by one of the main composers for Yumemita, Horie Shota as "non-compromising".Arale's content mainly revolves around singing and chatting streams with the occasional game or creative variety stream in between. She likes to construct her karaoke setlists around specific themes, such as Fairy Tail or Honeyworks songs. Her longest gaming series so far has been her Pikmin 4 playthrough and her Ark Survival Evolved playthrough on the Japanese open source server Nekosaba. She also started a monthly podcast project titled "AraraRadio".

Miyanaga Nonoka is one of the guitarists of the virtual band Mugendai Mewtype.Her debut stream was held at 20:00 JST on November 19, 2023. Her YouTube channel qualified for monetization on December 3, 2023.Miyanaga (宮永): Miya (宮) means "temple, shrine, palace", and Naga (永) means "eternal". It is also a reference to Nezu Miyanaga neighborhood in Tokyo Bunkyo ward, following franchise tradition. Nonoka (ののか): Her first name has no specific meaning.Nonoka is a very energetic and positive girl. She likes helping people and she's very attentive of her friends. One of her special skills is horizontal jumping. She enjoys playing board games, creating and reading picture books, and watching slice of life anime. She designed her own original characters for a children's book and likes to sneak the protagonist polar bear cub, Milumilu into everything she makes.She is a versatile variety streamer who plays a lot of JRPGs and simulator games. Aside from gaming she has done several cooking streams, bathings streams and guitar practice streams. She occasionally does karaoke and chatting streams.

Minetsuki Ritsu is one of the guitarists of the virtual band Mugendai Mewtype.Her debut stream was held at 20:30 JST on November 19, 2023. Her YouTube channel qualified for monetization on December 2, 2023.Minetsuki (峰月): Mine (峰) means "peak, top, summit", and Tsuki (月) means "moon". It is also a reference to Munatsuki-zaka Slope in Tokyo Bunkyo ward, following franchise tradition. Ritsu (律) means "rule, law, regulation". It can also mean "rhythm" or be short for the term "rissen" (律旋) a type of heptatonic scale similar to that of the western Dorian mode.Despite her diligent and pure-hearted nature, she describes herself as a "ponkotsu ('unreliable/clumsy') type of person" and mentions that one of her bigger charm points is the fact that she's a big eater. Ritsu enjoys watching birds, mountain climbing, visiting shrines, touring factories, taking pictures, sleeping and listening to the radio. She is skilled at impersonation and acting, and can also write simple scripts. Her childhood dream was becoming an idol or a voice actor. Her favorite anime are Detective Conan, Doraemon, Ranma 1/2, Toradora! and Gintama.She is a variety streamer who does a lot of mukbang streams and guitar practice streams. Fuji Miyako is the keyboardist of the virtual band Mugendai Mewtype.Her debut stream was held at 21:30 JST on November 18, 2023. Her YouTube channel qualified for monetization on December 2, 2023.Fuji (藤) refers to the Japanese wisteria. It is also a reference to Denmyoji Temple, colloquially referred to as Fujidera (藤寺), in Tokyo Bunkyo ward, following franchise tradition. Miyako (都子): Miya (都) means "capital, metropolis", while Ko (子) is a suffix used in female given names.Miyako is an introverted and quiet girl with a "big sister" aura but also a mischievous and chaotic side to her personality. She enjoys teasing her friends and fans. She lists "being in the sun" as one of her weaknesses and isn't good at sports. She loves all kinds of cute things and yuri, one of her favorite yuri series is YuruYuri. Sengoku Yuno is the DJ and manipulator of the virtual band Mugendai Mewtype.Her debut stream was scheduled to be held at 21:30 JST on November 18, 2023, but due to technical difficulties, it was postponed by a day and was held at 19:30 JST on November 19, 2023. Her YouTube channel qualified for monetization on December 7, 2023.Sengoku (千石): Sen (千) means "a thousand", and Goku (石) means "stone". It is also a reference to Sengoku train station in Tokyo Bunkyou ward, following franchise tradition. Yuno (ユノ) is a female unisex name. However, because it is written in katakana, it has no specific meaning.Yuno is a laid back and reserved person and she also has a bashful side to her personality.
